Since 2009, our progressive business model has helped not only individuals worldwide, but also the environment. In short, we combine eco-friendly products with social responsibility.
- Each pair of Blue Planet Eyewear is made with recycled and/or natural materials to help eliminate waste and draw from more sustainable sources.
- For every pair sold, we donate a pair of corrective glasses to a person in need via a charity organization that we partner with. We call this practice our Visualize Change Program.
- Each month, the Blue Planet team volunteers in our local community as a part of our Random Acts of Kindness program
Eco-Friendly Sunglasses & Reading Glasses
Nowadays, it is commonplace for production factories to simply dispose of excess materials. These materials contribute to the ever increasing landfills, eventually leading to toxins and carbon dioxide being released into our atmosphere and waterways; speeding up climate change and rendering our ever reducing clean water resources more deeply diminished. Since our establishment in 2009, we as a company oppose this kind of destructive cycle. By re-using the excess materials to create new eyewear, it creates a remarkably more durable, lightweight and comfortable frame. We have also incorporated other natural materials such as bamboo, Walnut, Beechwood and Zebra Wood. Incorporating our Eco-Process™ method to our frames has saved 1000’s of lbs of excess materials from going into our landfills and oceans.
Restoring Sight To People In Need
It is estimated that 285 million people (19 million being children), are visually impaired worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 80% of all visual impairment can be prevented or even cured by the use of corrective glasses. The gift of sight can be life changing and make a dramatic difference for communities worldwide.
Our Visualize Change Program started in 2012, for every pair of glasses we sell, we donate a pair of corrective glasses to a person in need. To date, we have donated over 1,500,000 pairs corrective glasses to those in need. Some of our main giving partners include the following organizations: See International, Direct Relief and The Best Day Foundation.
Volunteering
In April of 2018 we wanted to find a new way to give back to our community. The Blue Planet Crew actively volunteers in our local community as a part of our Random Acts of Kindness Program. Our volunteer work so far has included working with kids with disabilities, working with animals at the Humane Society, planting trees, organizing beach cleanups, providing food for the less fortunate and many more.
Trees For The Future
A new way to give back...It's time to give our beautiful and impacted planet some love. As of January 1st, 2020, we will be planting one tree for every pair of Blue Planet Eco-Eyewear Sold. We are proud to announce our partnership with Trees For The Future to help us on our new journey. The trees will be planted mostly in South America, Southeast Asia and Africa to create a thriving Forest Garden. The Forest Garden Program is a simple, replicable and scalable approach with proven success. By planting specific types of fast-growing trees, fruit trees, hardwoods and food crops in a systematic manner over a four year period, families can positively change their lives forever. Forest Gardens consist of thousands of trees that provide families with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, products to sell, fuel wood and a 400% increase in their annual income in four years.
